I had a food brunch at Penang Road. This late morning I was here for a good Nasi Kandar. This Nasi Kandar is one of the among well known Nasi Kandar in Penang. This is my first time trying Line Clear thou.
The queue was not there when I arrived there. Good for me doesn't need to queue for the food. But the queue built up when I left the restaurant around 12pm.
For the Nasi Kandar, I took white rice, Fried Chicken- Whole leg, one vegetable, and one Telur Dadar. And to complete my meal in this open air, non-air conditioned restaurant, one cup of Limau Ais was the best pair.
Another built up point was the gravy, I asked the guy loaded the rice with whatever gravies that they have. Semua kuah pun mau.
Afterwards it was the dessert time, I walked to nearby famous Cendul. I queued for around 5 minutes for one bowl of refreshing Teochew Cendul finished within 3 minutes.
What is your favourite dessert after a meal? What is your must eat items in Penang?
RM 10.40 - Nasi Kandar (Opens 24 hours)
RM 1.60 - Lime Juice
RM 2.90 - Cendol (12pm till close usually 5pm)

Breakfast the Nasi Lemak like King
Breakfast like a king. Yeah that's right. As a Malaysian, I am used to eating rice for breakfast.
Nasi Lemak will become the usual meal for most of Malaysian though we don't really have a standard menu of breakfast.
I had Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng at my office cafeteria this morning. The rice is cooked with coconut milk, the red sambal bilis is served alongside with cucumber slices, roasted peanuts, fried anchovies and egg. Sambal is normally stir-fried ground chilli paste (in bahasa we call this tumis or action menumis) with spices and anchovies.
Ayam goreng (fried chicken) is the side dish in addition that I took. Normally nasi lemak can be served with various sides such as sotong telur, sambal sotong, sambal petai, sambal udang, even western combinations such as hotdogs and omelette and etc.
RM 3.50

Waited 40 minutes for Mee Sotong
I am travelling to Penang for only food hunting session. This is my first budget backpacking tour.
I've been coming to Penang for a few times as business trip but this will be my first time as a tourist.
My trip will be as budget as I kept my budget within RM 350 including travelling.
Today is my first day so I waited for 40 minutes at this Padang Kota Lama's Esplanade Food Court.
The queue was long and my wait is very worthy as the RM 5 Mee Sotong is quite delicious and addictive.
And of course this hot day is good to match a refreshing Buah Pala Asam Boi Juice. Ah haha. RM 5 + RM 2.60 = RM 7.60

Texas Chicken Malaysia's Fortune Chicken
It was a great night for me to have a good dinner at Texas Chicken Malaysia, Sunway Pyramid Branch. The staffs were friendly and the ambiance was good.
Earlier today I wished to eat something crunchy and flavourful. When I left my office, Texas Chicken was finally dawned on me. Yeay!
Apa lagi?(Without further-ado) I quickly head to Texas Chicken to have dinner there. I ordered one combo set of Fortune Chicken. This Fortune Chicken is the new introduced chicken by Texas Chicken Malaysia in conjuction with Chinese New Year. And this coming CNY is the year of rooster!
This Fortune Chicken Combo is priced at RM14.50 inclusive of GST. This combo comes with two pieces of Fortune Chicken, Fortune Fries, a biscuit, and free-refill soft drinks. I got a pack of angpau packets too. Angpau Packets are red envelopes where money will be given enclosed during festive seasons, such as CNY.
The staffs were friendly. The cashier told me that the Fortune Chicken choice was left with drumsticks only. However they willingly to offer to prepare two pieces chicken parts of my choice. Yes. You read it right, and two pieces only. I took one breast and another one thigh.
However, the wait for the chicken to be served took me 15 minutes doesn't disappoint me. The chickens were fully flavoured. And when eating them hot was the best. You can taste the succulent meat and its juiciness.
The Fortune Fries were flavoured with hot and spicy flavour too. I think the fries was hotter than the chicken. But it was good. The chicken were flavoured carefully and it covered the whole fried chicken. I can taste the "fortune"-ness at each every bites I had.
However I think the flavour for chicken is a bit more sweeter rather than taste of chili. But both fries and fried chicken were spicy and good.

KK Christmas Carnival & Food Crave
Just now I went to a Christmas Carnival which is located nearby my hotel at Kota Kinabalu. This carnival is celebrated with joy and merry. This pre-christmas carnival draws very big crowd, the traffic was bad but still people is still coming.
I stumbled upon a stall - the pork burger. This stall sells only one type of burger, the pork burger. I paid RM7 for the burger. The patty is quite thick actually, probably around 170 gram or six ounces.
Really good.

Pulut Bakar Kelantan
This is Roasted Glutinouse Rice. This cuisine is famous in Kelantan and now the popularity has gone to everywhere.
The Glutinouse Rice is normally a little bit sweet and fragrance. The softness of the rice will make you indulge so much.

Do you eat the heel of bread?
Heel of bread may look ugly you will throw it away immediately you unwrap the loaf packaging. But unlike for some people like me. I do enjoy the heel of a loaf.
Bread heel is toasted and sandwiched with pan fried egg with cucumber and tomato cuts.

Bihun Soto Ayam
Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri to all my Muslim friends.
I went to friend's open house. They have a lot delicious dishes. One of the dishes I like the most is Bihun Soto Ayam.
In a open house, normally there will be nasi, usually Nasi Putih, Nasi Lemak, Nasi Kuning or Nasi Dagang and it will be served with curry. Say Chicken Curry, kerutuk and etc.
However my friend made thing different this year by having Bihun Soto Ayam this year.
Soto Ayam is a kind of soup where a whole chicken will be cooked in sup and eventually became broth. You will see yellow colour soup this is because Kunyit is one of the ingredient in the making.
Soto Ayam can be eaten on its own. However it can be eaten with nasi kapit, ketupat nasi and lontong. Some people like it to be eaten with french bread, don't ask me I don't know why.
For my meal, I choose Bihun, the rice vermicelli with Soto Ayam.

Nasi Kerabu Kelantan (Khao Jam)
Today is a good weekend. My aunt and I have made Nasi Kerabu Kelantan. The rice is cooked with herbs and the preparation looks easily but a bit tedious.
The ulam-ulaman (herbs) is collected and finely chopped. These does not require any cooking. Fish was pan grilled beforehand before it was minced.
In Thai language, we call this Khao Jam. Literary the pronunciation is the same with cow-jump.
Let's go to the food, the green rice is cooked from green coloured herbs.
Finely chopped ulams spreaded on top of the rice. Put in some budu (fish sauce) and remember to mix and stir the herbs and rice.
Add budu if you want more flavourful to the rice. Last but not least the Khao Jam is best served with fish crackers!
It is also best to served with salted egg, which I had for dinner.

Roti Canai Breakfast
This morning I went to Raju Restaurant PJ. This is a famous Banana Leaf House Restaurant at Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya. PJ folks will come here for a good breakfast. It will be crowded after 8:30am because the people finished the Bukit Gasing trekking will usually drop by here for breakfast.
I ordered two pieces of Roti Kosong and a fried Threadfin Bream (Ikan Kerisi).
A fresh coconut drink was excellent and the flesh was amazingly good.
The price here is on high side so be mind that you are coming here for good and quality food!
Cheers!

Ikan Panggang Sambal (Sambal Pan Grilled Fish)
I would like to share yesterday's dinner here.
This was Ikan Cencaru that has been pan grilled. In bahasa we are much familiar with Ikan Panggang Sambal cili or Ikan Bakar bersambal.
I can eat the fish only with rice. The fish was very appetizing and good.

Nasi Kandar Bintang Maju (Nasi Ganja)
I arrived at Hussain Nasi Kandar Bintang Maju located at Manjung Raya for lunch.
It was a long queue as I arrived there a little bit late for lunch. We used to queue up for Nasi Kandar because the pak cik will assist us in picking up the food that we wanted and sambal that we preferred. I believe only he will knew the correct portion of sambal and kuah that can make the rice and gravy's proportion delicious to eat.
I chose Basmati Rice(Long Grain Rice), two type of vegetables, one piece of Ayam Merah, one hard boiled egg, and mixture of gravies (Fish Curry, Chicken Curry and Lamb curry).
The rice is soft because it was steamed. The curry gravies mixed the rice well and the ayam merah was good.
Price: RM9.50

Flavorholics Nasi Ayam by Wing Zone
I went to Wing Zone, AEON Seri Manjung as I arrived Manjung for a work trip.
I will come to this shop whenever I came Manjung or Sitiawan. :)
I ordered their time limited promotion, Flavorholics Nasi Ayam.
This meal costed RM14.90 inclusive GST>
It came with one set meal inclusive of drinks. The set meal consists of rice, stirred fried vegetables and a boneless chicken fillet.
The chicken fillet itself was good as it was grilled and has a coating of flavor which I can select as per picture below.
I chose Tokyo Dragon, as it has a mild taste of hot and spicy and at the same time you can enjoy the sweet teriyaki taste.
But I think the price is not worth what I've gotten this time. The chicken is too small and it should came with soup. This is because the aromatic rice was a bit dry.
Overall I enjoyed this!

Nasi Kukus Ayam Goreng and Lin Chi Kang
Tonight's dinner is Nasi Kukus Ayam Goreng.
The rice is steamed instead of cooked in a cooker. The fried chicken is nevertheless to be eaten with the chilli sambal. The fried anchovies and groundnuts were there but it was hidden underneath the fried chicken.
Dessert time, Lin Chi Kang. This dessert is my all time favourite. I drove to SS2 was just because of this dessert. It has chewy winter melon strips. These strips made the dessert more enjoyable and I feel more happier.
Price: RM6.00 for Nasi Kukus Ayam Goreng, RM3.00 for Lin Chi Kang

Mee Goreng for Supper
I am hungry so I dropped by nearby mamak, Shaaz for a quick supper.
I ordered one plate of Mee Goreng and a one Lime Juice.
I was very angry because the Lime Juice is RM1.90 while Teh O Limau Ice is RM2.00. Well, I think it was better for me to just order the latter one.
The mee goreng was nice, well because I was hungry.
Nothing special though. Mamak like to sprinkle Bawang Goreng to fry it and sprinkle it another time before it served to the customer.

Organic and Healthy Nasi Lemak
I went to BMS Organics for a good lunch. I ordered Nasi Lemak and a refreshing juice, Pineapple and Cucumber Juice.
The fruit juice was freshly squeezed. No ice added and no additional water added to dilute it.
As complimentary, I was given Organic Spirulina pills and one cup of ginger tea. Spirullina has a lot health benefits you can search on the internet, Ginger tea helps you to warm up your stomach before meal.
I chewed the Spirullina pills, then drank the Ginger tea.
The main course, Nasi Lemak. The Nasi Lemak served with papadum, vegetarian chicken curry, salads, beans and nuts, brown rice and of course sambal.
The chicken curry is very good. It has a good taste, the gravy was equivalently good to a real chicken/mutton curry ones.
Same goes to the sambal. Although normal nasi lemak we will see sambal with anchovies(ikan bilis), but this alternative sambal is just as good to fit into my stomach.
Price: RM24.00
